Samsung Launches New Device to Track Children and Valuables

Samsung has announced the launch of the Samsung Connect Tag, a new device that uses cellular communication technologies to help users track and trace precious objects, such as children and pets.

"The Samsung ConnectTag is the world's first commercially available mobile product using NB-IoT or Cat.M1," the South Korean consumer electronics giant said in a statement on its website.

The NB-IoT is a cellular communication standard designed to exploit small data, low power consumption and the ability to connect securely to the Internet for optimal site selection services.

Connect Connect provides smart notifications for websites based on NB-IoT or Cat.M1, making full use of Internet services to determine location information to increase family safety and peace of mind.

Connect Connect will use both GPS, WPS and Cell ID to be able to receive accurate information both inside and outside the home.

According to Samsung, the device can be tied to the children's backpack to see where they are, and can be tied to the dog collar so that it can not be lost, and can be connected to keys to prevent loss.

The company said Connect Connect will be linked to Samsung's Internet environment environment, SmartThings, to work with smart home appliances on the platform, such as home lights and TVs that bring home users to work automatically.

The device works on the Internet version of things from Samsung's Taizen system, and is compatible with smart phones operating version 6.0 "Marshmallow" of the Android system and beyond, and can be controlled by the application of "Samsung Connect" or "Connect Taj".

Without mentioning the price, Samsung said Connected Taj would be available in South Korea and then in other global markets in the coming months.
