Gates donates more than $ 4.6 billion in his biggest donation since 2000

Bill Gates has donated 64 million shares of his shares in Microsoft Corp. in his biggest donation since 2000, which he believes will be spent in charity efforts, financial documents published on Monday showed.

A filing by the US Securities and Exchange Commission showed Gates, the world's richest man, had donated 64 million shares worth more than $ 4.6 billion. He did not yet know who was the beneficiary of the donation, but Gates used to donate to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a charity he founded with his wife, Melinda.

Since 2000, Gates' 61-year-old generous new donation has been his stake in Microsoft, which he founded. In 1999, he donated $ 16 billion worth of shares and donated $ 5.1 billion the following year.

Gates and his wife Melinda have donated nearly $ 35 billion worth of shares and cash since 1994, based on the value of the shares at the time of the donations. Gates, along with billionaire investor Warren Buffett, created the Giving Pledge initiative in 2010 and then joined 168 others who promised to donate their wealth to charities.

Despite his contributions, Gates remains the wealthiest man in the world with a fortune of more than $ 86 billion after falling below $ 90 billion. Amazon founder Jeff Pizzos is close to him for a very short time and then returns to second place as Amazon shares fall.
